Position

You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (PROJECTS) in the Welding Engineering Division (Code 138) within the Quality Assurance Office (Code 130), of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

  • Required Experience
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service.
  • Experience equivalent to GS-12 in the private or public sector.
  • Certification as a certified NAVSEA Level III NDT Examiner.
  • Mastery of NDT concepts, principles, and methodologies, including Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Eddy Current Inspection (ECI).
  • Experience utilizing surface ship and submarine systems, including hull, piping, and mechanical components, with knowledge of their functional relationships, operating conditions, and repair processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of NAVSEA technical publications (e. g., T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, MIL-STD-2035), military specifications, and industry standards related to NDT.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to develop and implement complex technical concepts, instructions, and certification programs.
  • Experience includes paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e. g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
