We are seeking a proactive and organised Laboratory Technician to support the day-to-day operation of a busy laboratory. This role involves maintaining equipment and facilities, supporting laboratory users, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and contributing to the smooth running of laboratory activities.
The position is set to commence ASAP and will be full-time for an initial duration of 12 weeks with a pay rate of £14.98 - £16.92 per hour + holiday pay based on experience.
Key Duties- Ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory, including equipment maintenance and stock management.
- Liaise with suppliers and assist with arranging equipment servicing and maintenance contracts.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, including washing, sterilisation and waste disposal.
- Support inductions and training for laboratory users.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to laboratory users.
- Assist with laboratory operational planning and process improvements.
- Prepare and review standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
- Promote compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Health and Safety, COSHH and other relevant regulations.
- Contribute to maintaining an inclusive, safe and sustainable laboratory environment.
- Experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Experience handling hazardous chemicals.
- A-level (or equivalent) qualification in a scientific subject.
- Knowledge of laboratory health and safety regulations, including COSHH.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to organise workload, use initiative and work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy laboratory environment.
