Overview

The Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) invites applications for an Energy and Environment Officer to support environmental and sustainability initiatives across the NBI Partnership.

The role supports the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and the wider NBI community.

Responsibilities

  • Support sustainability, energy and environmental management activities across multiple institutes.
  • Contribute to compliance actions or statutory/voluntary reporting and help maintain ISO 14001 accreditation.
  • Drive initiatives across waste, water, energy, procurement, travel and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Adapt to a broad range of environmental impacts and challenges across the site.
  • Be detail-oriented, proactive and communicate effectively; collaborate with teams to develop and implement improvements.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to build skills in the environmental/energy sector.
  • Ideal Candidate
  • Minimum education: GCSE level or equivalent, plus a relevant sustainability or environmental qualification or degree-level education in a related field.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems, sustainability reporting and data analysis.
  • Experience using Excel and/or Power BI to interpret complex data.
  • Experience supporting sustainability, energy management or compliance activities; familiarity with ISO 14001 is advantageous but not essential.
  • Salary and Contract

Salary on appointment will be within the range £30,600 to £37,400 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time, permanent position.
