Deputy General Ledger Team Leader

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of General Ledger accountants, steering performance, engagement and continuous development.
  • Identify training needs and contribute to the development of others.
  • Take full ownership of the execution of general ledger processes for one market entity.
  • Analyse financial data and provide clear insights to management to enable informed decision‑making.
  • Partner with finance leadership and other stakeholders, linking business decisions to accounting processes.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy and quality, setting and achieving higher service‑level standards.
  • Contribute to initiatives that span multiple regions and business functions, broadening expertise.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit requirements and regulatory standards; support internal and external audits.

Qualifications

  • CIMA/ACCA qualified or part‑qualified (with limited papers remaining).
  • Solid knowledge of finance accounting, tax and double‑entry bookkeeping.
  • Team‑leadership or supervisory experience, including steering performance, analysing KPIs, coaching and development.
  • Experience in a shared‑service centre or multi‑entity environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience working with senior management.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, self‑reliant attitude.
  • Willingness and ability towards continuous learning.
  • Technical skills in Power Query, Business Intelligence, advanced Excel (including VBA), SAP or S/4 HANA are an advantage but not essential.
