We operate under Richardson Oat Milling, Crisp Malt, EDME and Micronized Food Products (MFP).

We currently have an opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) at our Crisp Malt, Portgordon location.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance of site and plant equipment to ensure malt production targets are met, in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and trade-related legislation.
  • Provide out-of-hours call-out coverage for breakdowns as required.
  • Contribute to efficiency improvements across the site and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain maintenance paperwork and computer records in line with company procedures.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to equipment operation where appropriate.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with: reactive maintenance (mechanical testing, fault finding, installation and inspection), planned preventative maintenance, Health & Safety at Work Act, company policies and procedures, Food Safety Regulations, and Environmental Procedures.
  • Carry out mechanical repairs (including bearing replacement, gearboxes and drives).
  • Stay up to date with new techniques, processes and equipment through training and development as required.
  • Maintain high levels of housekeeping on site.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required.

Person specification

Essential qualities include excellent problem-solving ability, self-motivation, the ability to work on own initiative, quality awareness, and the ability to work well both independently and in a team.

Qualifications, skills & experience

Essential

  • Recognised Apprenticeship/Engineering qualification, BTEC, HNC, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable problem-solving abilities and quality awareness
  • Confident in using computer-based maintenance systems and Microsoft
  • Demonstrable ability in mechanical testing, fault finding, installation & inspection, use of hand tools/fitting (PUWER)
  • Demonstrable ability in welding and fabrication
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience working within Maltings with knowledge of DSEAR regulations
  • Material Handling Systems, Bucket Elevators, Belt Conveyors, Screws, Diverters etc.
  • Demonstrable ability in turning and milling
  • Experience with lifting equipment (LOLER)
