About us: The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. The School was established in 1831 and has played an integral role in the life of King's since the university was formed almost 200 years ago. The School is based in the East Wing of Somerset House on King's Strand Campus in London. Our location means that we are in the heart of legal London with the Houses of Parliament, government departments, the Royal Courts of Justice, the Inns of Court and the offices of global law firms all within walking distance.
The Dickson Poon School of Law seeks to appoint a Senior Communications Manager to lead and oversee the School's internal and external communications activity, as well as its programme of external events. Reporting to the Head of External Engagement, the postholder will provide strategic communications advice and support to the School's Executive Leadership Team, ensuring the delivery of effective communications, engagement and public relations activity that supports the School's mission, vision and strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of integrated communications and engagement strategies for staff, students and external audiences.
- Ensure the effective dissemination of university-wide messaging on key strategic priorities, while identifying and promoting opportunities to raise the profile and reputation of the Law School.
- Create and deliver compelling content across a broad range of channels, including social media, website, podcasts and videos.
- Identify and promote impactful research, student and staff success stories, ensuring communications are engaging, consistent and audience focused.
- Line manage communications and events staff, fostering collaboration, professional development and best practice across both functions.
- Provide strategic communications advice and support to the School's Executive Leadership Team to ensure delivery of effective communications and public relations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align messaging with the School's mission, vision and strategic priorities.
- Drive stakeholder engagement and ensure high standards of operational delivery in all communications activities.
Qualifications
- Proven track record as a communications professional with experience in developing and delivering coordinated communications strategies.
- Experience in managing a team and line management responsibilities.
- Strong ability to build stakeholder relationships and communicate with diverse audiences.
- Ability to combine strategic thinking with excellent operational delivery and a passion for communicating the impact of a leading academic institution.
This is a full-time (35 hours per week) role with an indefinite contract. The position is hybrid and the post-holder will be expected to be on campus for a minimum of 2 days per week, in line with King's hybrid working policy.
Salary: £53,947 to £63,350 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance.
