We are seeking a Relationship Director to manage a Mid Corporate portfolio of clients and prospects within the London Professional and Business Services team. The Relationship Director will understand and provide solutions to customers’ bespoke financial requirements including lending, deposits, and a range of other products and services. The Mid Corporates segment covers £50m-£500m turnover. You will help grow the portfolio through new-to-bank prospect origination and business development; this is a new role adding headcount to the team. Some existing clients may be moved into this portfolio, but new business growth is the key focus. A proven track record in growing a Mid Corporate client base in the UK Banking market is required.
Within a strong team of professionals, this is an opportunity to join a high-performing Mid Corporates team in the London & South Region. You will support high-profile local clients and develop key business opportunities.
Your accountabilities include:
- Proactively originate new-to-bank opportunities, focusing on debt transactions, via direct client outreach and a network of introducers.
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance and internal partners to gain early visibility on transactions and position Lloyds at the forefront of deal execution.
- Build and maintain deep relationships with key business introducers (private equity, debt advisers, accountants, lawyers) to drive a sustainable pipeline.
- Understand client strategies and funding requirements to structure compelling, competitive debt solutions.
- Drive balance sheet growth through disciplined deployment of capital, increasing share of wallet with new and existing clients.
- Develop and execute sector-led origination strategies to increase revenue and market share.
- Collaborate across Coverage, Credit, and Product teams to deliver a seamless client experience and successful outcomes.
- Monitor market trends, transaction activity, and competitor positioning to inform origination strategy.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and structure to deliver strong client outcomes aligned with risk appetite and return objectives.
- Manage high-profile client relationships, focusing on adding customer value and becoming a trusted advisor.
- Identify emerging issues and needs, potential causes, barriers, and key partners to find the best way forward.
- Support the Risk side of the portfolio, including helping clients develop ESG strategies and progress toward Net Zero.
- Support the development of others in the team while pursuing personal development.
- Play a leadership role within the region, supporting the Regional Director with coaching and mentorship responsibilities.
What we're looking for:
- 5+ years of proven experience in a similar role within corporate banking.
- Strong communication skills with experience in building, creating, and maintaining relationships with clients and external partners.
- Proven credit experience with the ability to evaluate propositions and provide confident, effective commercial recommendations to the Credit team.
- Strong financial and numerical skills.
- Detailed understanding of legal documentation and the ability to negotiate legal and commercial terms.
- Understanding and appreciation of different types of risk in a lending environment and how to minimise such risk.
We are on a journey to transform our Group and help shape finance for good. The focus is on the future, investing in technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make the Group a great place for everyone.
