Job Overview: Citi's Markets business is one of the largest and most globally connected capital markets franchises in the world, offering clients access to deep liquidity, market intelligence, and execution capabilities across fixed income, currencies, commodities, and equities. The Foreign Exchange business sits at the core of the Markets division, operating across a network of interconnected trading hubs in London, New York, Tokyo, and Singapore. Citi consistently ranks amongst the top global FX dealers, with a broad footprint spanning G10 and local markets currencies and a growing presence servicing institutional, corporate, and alternative investment client segments.

The Opportunity: This is an opportunity to join Citi's LMFX Trading desk in London at the Vice President level, taking on primary market-making responsibilities across a portfolio of spot, forward, and swap books. The desk is at a growth phase, with significant investment being made in electronic trading capabilities, internalization infrastructure, and client franchise development. The successful candidate will be an experienced LMFX trader who can operate autonomously within a risk framework, contribute meaningfully to the desk's commercial performance, and bring a genuine understanding of both market microstructure and client flow dynamics.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage primary market-making responsibilities across a portfolio of LMFX books - including spot, forwards, and FX swaps - taking intra-day and overnight risk within defined limits and actively contributing to the desk's P&L.
  • Provide coverage and back-up across select Local Markets (LM) linear FX books, ensuring continuity and consistency of risk management across the broader desk.
  • Partner closely with e-trading and quantitative teams to monitor internalization rates, optimize pricing engines and execution algorithms, and contribute to the continued development of the desk's electronic capabilities.
  • Build and maintain client relationships in partnership with FX Sales, providing high-quality market colour, actionable trade ideas, and written and video content that reinforces Citi's market presence and strengthens client engagement.
  • Uphold rigorous governance and controls, working in close partnership with Legal, Compliance, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure that the desk's risk infrastructure meets the highest standards; escalate and manage control issues with transparency.
  • Assess risk/reward of trading decisions with appropriate consideration for the firm's reputation, in full adherence to Citi's Code of Conduct, the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services, and all applicable regulatory requirements and policies.

What We Need From You: Demonstrable experience as a LMFX linear trader with particular focus on Latam currencies at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 financial institution, with a proven track record of managing spot, forward, and FX swap books in a primary market-making capacity. Deep product expertise across LMFX instruments; familiarity with Local Markets currency products and associated risk dynamics would be a meaningful advantage.

Certification: Candidates applying for this role must be aware that it is a Certified Role, subject to the FCA and PRA Certification Regime. The Certification Regime is one element of the Individual Accountability Regime which came into effect on 7 March 2016. Under the Certification Regime, Citi UK regulated entities (Citi entities) must ensure that employees working in certain roles categorised as specified significant harm functions (Certified Roles) are assessed as fit and proper to carry out their role.
