As a Partner on our service counters, you will demonstrate knowledge and passion for food while ensuring ethical sourcing and recommending recipes to customers. You will bring our ethos — passionate Partners serving food lovers — to life, and build lasting relationships with customers to support the Waitrose brand and encourage loyalty, while helping to maximise sales and profit. Night Premium applies to any time worked between 22:00 and 06:00 at a rate of £3.75 per hour, in addition to contractual pay. This also applies to existing Partners enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements.

Location: South Harrow Waitrose Hospitality, 140 Northolt Road, London, HA2 0EG. This is a temporary fixed‑term role with two positions available.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for your own food counter, ensuring the highest presentation and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Stay on top of stock levels to ensure products customers love are available when needed.
  • Handle open food with due diligence and follow health and safety protocols to reduce food wastage.
  • Maintain knowledge of new products and demonstrate understanding of Waitrose food values (e.g., animal welfare).
  • Support the wider shop team with general shopkeeping tasks when required.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Communication skills to work effectively as part of a team and with customers.
  • Desirable: Experience in a customer-facing role and in a catering/hospitality environment.
  • Desirable: Up-to-date knowledge and strong interest in food and drink trends.
  • Desirable: Flexible approach to support the whole branch.

Contract & Working Hours

  • Contract Type: Temporary
  • Hours of Work: 20.5 hours per week (part time)
  • Job Level: Partnership Level 10
  • Position 1 – Total 20.5 hours: Sunday 11:00 – 17:00, Monday 06:45 – 15:00, Wednesday 10:30 – 18:45.
  • Position 2 – Total 20.25 hours: Tuesday 09:00 – 17:15, Wednesday 09:00 – 17:15, Saturday 06:45 – 12:15.
  • Pay: £14.55 per hour (£14.80 after 90 days earning membership).

Working flexibly in Food Service across service counters, including handling raw meat and fish.
