OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION
The Leveraged Capital Markets team is responsible for the origination and execution of leveraged loan and high yield bond transactions. This includes both underwritten and best-efforts transactions for corporate and sponsor-owned clients across EMEA. The team is part of MUFG's Capital Markets platform and is based in London and Paris. Consistent with the wider growth strategy, this is a newly created position.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role holder will drive origination and execution of leveraged loan and high yield bond transactions across EMEA. In particular, this will involve the following:
- Provide corporate finance advice related to capital structures and funding alternatives in the non-investment grade space
- Cover key non-investment grade clients from Capital Markets perspective
- In collaboration with Corporate and Financial Sponsor Coverage teams as well as the Leveraged Syndicate & Sales team, identify business opportunities, foster relationships and generate ideas for MUFG's existing and prospective clients
- Pursue a product-agnostic strategy between leveraged loans and high yield to deliver best advice to clients and maximise revenue
- Promote global collaboration to ensure best financing solutions are delivered to clients by leveraging MUFG's global Capital Markets capabilities
- Contribute to the overall growth and success of MUFG's strategy
- Manage and mentor junior staff
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CLIENT DEVELOPMENT:
Build and manage key client relationships from Capital Markets perspective. Proactively create new business proposals which meet clients' needs. Anticipate and meet inquiries from our clients with competitive and appropriately-structured solutions to access capital in our covered markets/products. Work with internal partners to develop a strategy for both leveraged corporate and sponsor-driven capital markets transactions. Be responsible and accountable for contributing to MUFG's revenue targets and enhancing the worldwide MUFG franchise through appropriate collaboration within and across regions. Promote appropriate cross-market sales opportunities for other products throughout the MUFG platform with the goal of presenting our client base with a single source of solutions to their capital-raising needs. Clearly explain the risks and rewards of our products to our clients, and provide our clients with all the information they need to make an informed judgment about transactions.
LEADERSHIP & STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT:
Assist the Head of EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets in setting the strategic direction and objectives in line with divisional and wider MUFG goals. Review potential growth areas and ensure strong execution to capture opportunities. Pursue a key growth strategy for the Leveraged Capital Markets team. Identify operational bottlenecks and help build scalable solutions that drive growth and improve overall business performance. Represent EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets in front of internal and external stakeholders where required.
RISK MANAGEMENT:
Contribute to a strong risk culture. Be accountable for ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures to protect MUFG's reputation and activities. In the context of the EMEA Leveraged Capital Markets business, help develop and review product-related policies, recommending adaptations as appropriate for the particular context. Proactively react to client enquiries in a risk-sensitive manner, ensuring proposed solutions that are appropriate for the client and meet the requirements of KYC within the region, while minimising any economic and reputational risks for MUFG. Implement processes and standards ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines. Conduct business in line with regulatory requirements.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:
Manage junior team members effectively and ensure they are afforded appropriate development opportunities. Facilitate knowledge transfer towards junior team members and other internal stakeholders. As a senior member of the Capital Markets team, provide guidance to junior staff.
