0.6 (FTE). Permanent. Start September 2026. We are seeking an accomplished Singing Tutor with experience teaching at FE or HE level, with a specialist focus on training students entering the professional Musical Theatre industry. The role involves leading and developing the singing provision within the Acting, Musical Theatre & Dance courses at Italia Conti, working alongside the Head of Singing and collaborating with the Head and Deputy Head of Music. You will be a lead practitioner within the school, championing quality, standards and the creative direction of the discipline within the curriculum.

The role is varied, with responsibility for leading a large teaching team of 15 sessional tutors delivering group technical singing workshops and 1:1 singing provision across all courses. The post includes administrative oversight over the weekly solo coaching provision (School of Musical Theatre and Dance) and the tutorial provision (School of Acting), including recruitment and staffing of the 1:1 singing team. A key focus is ensuring that all students eligible for 1:1 singing tuition receive excellent and pedagogically sound tuition. The provision serves over 700 students across all full-time courses, with around 450 musical theatre students receiving a private 1:1 singing lesson each week.

Italia Conti’s singing provision has grown in recent years; you will work with a Head of Music and Deputy Head of Music who lead ensemble singing, musicianship, repertoire studies and musical direction. The role recognises that some students may primarily study on Dance or Acting courses, and establishing a supportive environment for performers with varying levels of singing experience is key. In September 2022 the college moved to a brand-new campus in Woking with state-of-the-art facilities including 16 Kawai pianos. We are a friendly and collegial team with a commitment to inspiring and developing talent.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Singing and with the Head of Music and Deputy Head of Music on ensemble singing, musicianship, repertoire studies and musical direction.
  • Support students who may have primary study on Dance or Acting courses to develop confidence and ability in singing.
  • Establish a supportive and inclusive environment for performers of varying levels of singing experience.
