The role will work closely with finance colleagues in London, the Americas and Malaysia Shared Services, as well as external advisors where required, to ensure outputs are robust, well controlled and appropriate for senior management review.
The role requires strong financial accounting expertise, commercial judgement and the ability to provide direction across teams that are not all directly managed by the role.
Experience working with US or Americas entities would be valuable, including exposure to US GAAP, state taxes, employment-related taxes and US benefits such as 401(k) plans.
Responsibilities
- Own the preparation, review and explanation of monthly subsidiary management accounts for Americas entities, ensuring outputs are accurate, complete and supported by clear commentary.
- Lead the production and analysis of Americas management reporting packs and Power BI dashboards, providing senior stakeholders with clear visibility of financial performance.
- Act as the key finance contact for Americas reporting matters, ensuring timely, consistent and well-controlled delivery of results across the region.
- Partner with London, Americas and Malaysia finance teams to drive consistency in reporting, including alignment of methodologies, policies, reconciliations and presentation of financial information.
- Deliver insightful analysis of financial performance, including actuals versus budget or forecast, trends, key business drivers and emerging risks.
- Identify and escalate overspends, reporting issues or key risks with clear explanations, options and recommendations for corrective action.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes for the Americas entities, ensuring assumptions are clearly documented and aligned with actual performance and business expectations.
- Own key technical accounting and reporting matters for the Americas entities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and appropriate consideration of US GAAP where relevant.
- Support the year-end audit process, particularly in relation to Americas reporting, group reporting inputs and consolidated outputs.
- Provide oversight and support on Americas tax and compliance matters, including corporate tax, state taxes, indirect taxes, employment taxes and benefits-related accounting, working with internal teams and external advisors as required.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant or equivalent, with strong post-qualification experience in financial accounting, reporting or controllership.
- Excellent analytical capability, with the ability to translate financial data into clear insights and commentary.
- Experience working across international teams, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, with US GAAP experience desirable but not essential.
- Practical experience with Americas finance matters, such as state taxes, employment taxes, indirect taxes, benefits accounting or 401(k) plans, would be beneficial.
- Experience of month-end close and reporting cycles, with a focus on quality and accuracy of outputs.
- Systems experience, including ERP and reporting tools such as Net Suite, Power BI or similar, together with strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior finance and commercial stakeholders and communicate financial matters clearly.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills (e. g., Portuguese) would be advantageous.
- Success
- Americas management accounts, reporting packs and dashboards are accurate, timely and trusted by senior stakeholders.
- Key reporting judgements, assumptions, reconciliations and evidence trails are clearly documented and audit-ready.
- London, Americas and MYSS finance teams are aligned on month-end close, reporting standards, responsibilities and timelines.
- Americas tax, compliance and benefits-related matters are identified early, escalated appropriately and managed with clear input from internal teams or external advisors.
