Life Financial Crime Advisory Manager is a Second Line of Defence (2Lo D) management role within Global Financial Crime Compliance.

Operating independently of the First Line of Defence (1Lo D), the role provides review, challenge and oversight of 1Lo D activity to enable implementation of the M&G financial crime risk management framework within the M&G Life business globally.

Financial crime responsibilities

  • Provide independent 2Lo D review and challenge of the consolidated Life EWRA and track progress against actions arising from the EWRA.
  • Execute independent oversight and review of activities carried out by the First Line of Defence (1Lo D) including their oversight of outsourcing arrangements with its Third Party Administrators and reliance arrangements with its Intermediaries.
  • Establish a working framework covering Fraud prevention for 2Lo D to support, advise and challenge 1Lo D Fraud prevention controls and procedures.
  • Provide 2Lo D review and challenge of Life 1Lo D Risk and Controls Self Assessment actions.
  • Provide 2Lo D advice, guidance and challenge to Life 1Lo D teams on Global Financial Crime Standards.
  • Manage Life 1Lo D exception requests to Global Financial Crime Standards.
  • Prepare regulatory and board/committee reports from a 2Lo D perspective to support business activity and elevate any financial crime risks that require attention.
  • Support risk decisioning in Life as per M&G PLC's Financial Crime Risk Appetite and Risk Decisioning Matrix as 2Lo D.

Additional responsibilities

  • Oversee adoption of the Group issue management framework for financial crime and provide 2Lo D review and challenge of progress against actions logged.
  • Implement actions for 2Lo D arising from Assurance / Audit Findings relating to UK Life businesses.
  • Other tasks and activities within the scope of your role or team as required from time to time.

Skill requirements

  • Established financial crime experience within Financial Services, in a Second Line of Defence (2Lo D) capacity, with a deep understanding of financial crime risks.
  • Strong knowledge of UK financial crime laws and regulations relating to all areas of Financial Crime, including in the context of financial services industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with senior stakeholders and to challenge, communicate and explain independent 2Lo D risk decisions.
  • [Desirable] Experience in the life insurance and pensions sector.
  • [Desirable] Relevant experience with regulatory requirements for financial crime outside of the UK.
