Role overview: Introducing our brand new team to Hastings Direct! As one of our new Scoping Specialists/Scope Assessors, you'll provide technical assurance across Hastings Direct Home Insurance claims by reviewing repair schedules and reports produced by internal teams and external supply chain partners. You'll also be responsible for ensuring policy terms and conditions are applied correctly, repair scopes are accurate and proportionate, and claim settlements are fair, consistent, and controlled to minimise leakage. As a Scope Assessor, you'll play a key part in maintaining technical quality, supporting good customer outcomes, and protecting the business from leakage.
Job details - you'll need to have demonstrable experience in:
- Reviewing repair schedules, reports and associated claim documentation produced by internal claims teams and external supply chain partners and use repair scheduling tools, rates and technical knowledge to challenge estimates and ensure fair and proportionate costs.
- Assessing whether repair scopes are technically accurate, complete, and aligned to the Hastings Scoping Philosophy.
- Identifying potential leakage, over-scoping, under-scoping, duplication or inaccuracies in repair schedules and settlement calculations.
- Providing clear, evidence-based feedback and recommendations to improve technical accuracy and consistency across claims handling.
- Supporting assurance activity by highlighting trends, recurring issues and opportunities (for process or supplier improvement) and maintaining accurate records of reviews completed, findings identified and actions recommended.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within Home Claims to strengthen technical standards and control indemnity spend.
Essential skills/experience:
- Deep understanding of building pathology, including the ability to identify likely causes of damage and appropriate methods of repair.
- Strong working knowledge of home insurance policy terms and conditions, including how cover, exclusions and limits apply to claim outcomes.
- Practical experience of using repair scheduling tools and scoping platforms, alongside experience of reviewing repair schedules, estimates, reports and settlement values within a home claims setting.
- Outstanding attention to detail - able to identify inconsistencies, omissions and cost inaccuracies.
- A customer focused mindset, balanced with strong commercial awareness.
