Role: Our team is responsible for the university data centres and cloud.
We are seeking a skilled technician who can self-manage their time and work on projects with minimal supervision.
AWS experience is preferred but not required.
An interest in the cloud and willingness to be trained in cloud skills is essential.
The role also involves maintaining an on-premises server environment in the near term.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain university server infrastructure, including on-premises data centres and cloud environments.
- Work with Windows servers, domain controllers, VMware and large server fleets.
- Collaborate with service owners across the university; communicate effectively.
- Support backups and contribute to automation and the evolving AWS/cloud context.
- Participate in ongoing modernization of the cloud environment and related projects.
Qualifications
- Experience as a systems administrator with large server environments.
- Knowledge of Windows, VMware, datacentres and hardware; experience with backups.
- Independent working style; capable of working on projects and communicating with stakeholders.
- Cloud experience is beneficial; training will be provided if needed; aptitude to learn cloud skills.
- Desirable: experience in university settings; Linux knowledge; automation.

Directorate/Function: The Directorate for Finance, HR, and Infrastructure supports the university\'s strategic and operational success.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a starting salary of £50,160 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting).
