Overview

We are expanding our Private Wealth Team and seeking an experienced Residential Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive at Associate level and above to join our Marks Tey office.

The role focuses on high net worth clients and complex residential property matters, with an emphasis on delivering outstanding client care and service.

The successful candidate will work with a Partner, Senior Solicitor and Paralegal within the Private Wealth Team and be part of the Private Client Hub alongside Private Client and Family colleagues.

The team aims to offer a bespoke legal experience and opportunities to participate in business development activities and marketing initiatives, including seminars and client briefings.

This is a fantastic opportunity to build on and expand an existing caseload, develop your own brand within a leading Essex law firm, and take on potential progression and management responsibilities in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage your own caseload of around 60-80 active files (based on full-time hours) from commencement to completion, with support from Paralegal and Wider Business Support Team (including post-completion).
  • Provide quotes to new clients and act as their first point of contact, establishing relationships from the outset.
  • Progress files as required, including preparing title and search reports, raising enquiries, etc.
  • Exchange and complete files; advise clients throughout the transaction; liaise with other side's lawyers, estate agents and other professionals.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with at least 3-4 years' experience in residential property law.
  • Confident in managing your own caseload with minimal supervision and in building relationships with third parties and clients over time.
  • Strong technical knowledge of residential property law and ability to work with support from the Private Wealth Team to grow your caseload and contacts.
  • Exceptional client care, team player, excellent communication skills, and ability to network.
  • Self-motivated, able to work under pressure while prioritising workloads; commercially aware.
  • Desirable experience in complex transactions (e. g., Deeds of Easements, Transfers of Part, unregistered land, Grade II Listed Buildings, private drainage systems).
