Helicopter Engineer Apprentice — Hands-On Aviation Training

We are seeking the next generation of helicopter engineers and invite those with a passion for engineering, aviation and hands‑on problem solving to apply for this exciting opportunity. Our Strategic Plan and focus on developing our future team identifies a key requirement for recruiting engineer apprentices in order to ensure consistent, high‑quality service delivery to our customers. Bristow Helicopters is recruiting for six apprenticeship opportunities, offering extensive training over a 36‑month period, leading to potential employment opportunities in Bristow, for apprentices who successfully complete the programme and meet all required standards. Bristow Helicopters is committed to providing an innovative training and development package to bring you into front‑line helicopter maintenance.

This apprenticeship provides a structured pathway into the aviation industry, combining practical, on‑the‑job training with formal technical education. You will gain the knowledge, skills, and experience required to become a qualified helicopter engineer, working on some of the most advanced aircraft systems. Helicopter engineers play a vital role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing aircraft to ensure they meet strict safety and regulatory standards.

• Assist with inspection, maintenance, and repair of helicopters;
• Learn on the job how to resolve mechanical and avionics faults;
• Work with experienced engineers on scheduled servicing and safety checks;
• Support day‑to‑day hangar operations and aircraft movement;
• Complete structured training, coursework, and technical qualifications;
• Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.

• Level 3 Apprenticeship Completion Certificate and the vital academic and practical foundation needed to apply for a UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Part-66 Category A3 (Helicopters) Licence;
• Hands‑on aviation experience alongside expert mentors;
• Opportunity to progress towards a UK CAA Part-66 Engineering Licence;

• Mechanical and electrical engineering principles;
• Aircraft maintenance and fault diagnosis;

• Four National 5 qualifications, GCSEs, Highers, or equivalent qualifications (including English, Mathematics and a Science‑based subject) at Grade A‑B (or equivalent).

• Previous hands‑on or mechanical experience;
• A genuine interest in engineering and aviation;
• Participation in STEM related projects / groups.

• Excellent adaptable team worker, with good work and safety ethics;
• Attention to Detail;
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to work within small team;
• Analytical approach to problem solving;
• Numerical Skills;
• Motivated to provide a high standard of work;
• Demonstrate integrity in all aspects;
• Good communication skills both written and verbal;
