The Global Macro Strategy team in London is looking to hire a senior associate to assist with research efforts.
The associate will support senior team members by analyzing financial market and economic data to help produce robust, thematic trade ideas for the macro hedge fund and real money communities.
The role includes contributing to Citi's monthly asset allocation process and opportunities to author reports as well as support the team.
Responsibilities
- Develop broad macro themes and cross-asset class analysis.
- Generate trade ideas aimed at leveraged and macro-oriented investors.
- Conduct top-down analysis in Rates, FX, Equity, Credit and Commodity markets for developed and emerging markets.
- Utilize both linear and non-linear derivatives as part of analysis.
- Back-test trading and investment strategies.
- Construct macro and leading indicators for financial markets.
- Formulate macro fair value models and integrate academic insights within the global macro space.
- Collaborate with Citi’s macro research department and with teams in NY and Asia.
- Work with Citi’s asset class specialists (rates, equities, etc.).
- Assist with client inquiries and requests (internal and external).
- Candidate requirements & qualifications
- Experience in top-down macro analysis.
- Experience working with financial market data; ability to understand time series across fixed income and equities; independent working capability.
- Experience with AI and financial data sets is a strong bonus.
- Advanced econometric skills and knowledge of appropriate tools and techniques for given analyses.
- Strong programming skills; Python is required.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to a broad audience.
- Attention to detail; able to work in a team and meet tight deadlines for a weekly publication schedule.
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven team player mindset.
- Self-starter with ambition to progress within macro research; comfortable working in a team environment.
- Engagement with Citi’s broader corporate objectives, including recruitment and training of junior analysts.
- Ability to secure and maintain applicable licenses and regulatory approvals.
- Risk assessment mindset in business decisions, safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations; uphold ethical standards and escalate, manage and report control issues with transparency.
- Note: This is a Certified Role; familiarity with FCA and PRA Certification Regime requirements.
