We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join the Harrods Finance team. This is a high-impact role at the heart of the business, responsible for safeguarding the integrity of our financial performance and ensuring our stakeholders have access to accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will play a key role in delivering robust financial reporting, meaningful variance analysis, and the financial controls that support confident business decision-making.

About the Role

As a Financial Accountant, you will take ownership of financial reporting, controls, and performance oversight across a defined portfolio within the Retail group, including responsibility for associated balance sheet areas. Acting as a trusted finance partner, you will provide the strong financial foundations that enable our Commercial Finance teams to drive performance, while championing best practice, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for balance sheet integrity, proactively managing risks, exposures, and aged items to ensure robust financial control and governance.
  • Analyse and interpret balance sheet movements, clearly communicating underlying drivers, financial impacts, and areas of potential risk to key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review financial statements under FRS 102 for your entities or business area, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality financial reporting.
  • Support internal and external audit activities, providing clear documentation and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and control requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting quality, and drive efficiencies across the finance function.

About You

We're looking for a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA preferred) with strong technical accounting expertise and a detailed understanding of financial reporting, balance sheet control, and reconciliations. You will have a meticulous approach to your work, with a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and always maintaining financial integrity. Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial systems are essential, alongside the ability to analyse, investigate, and resolve discrepancies through a disciplined and methodical approach.

The successful candidate will bring experience from a Financial Controlling, Reporting, or Audit-focused role, with a proven track record of delivering month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting audit processes. You will be highly organised, able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines, particularly during period-end cycles. Strong communication skills are also key, enabling you to clearly and accurately explain financial positions, variances, and control-related matters within a structured, governance-focused environment.
