Senior Software Engineer - Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) | Epsom | Hybrid Working | Fixed-Term Contract till end of February 2027 (Maternity Cover)

At Nuffield Health, we deliver patient, member and customer experiences with a focus on digital services powered by Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer to join a team responsible for full-stack software development of our user-facing digital services and experiences, particularly our AEM-powered website.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high quality software is designed, delivered and operated in line with enterprise strategy and product/business goals, working within agile delivery.
- Collaborate as part of a multi-functional team to run, maintain, improve and evolve digital solutions (primarily the AEM website) for the benefit of Nuffield Health users.
- Support the operation and day-to-day stability of digital solutions, including component and page development and site performance.
- Operate within a community of developers and architects, contributing value through knowledge sharing, innovation and adherence to technical standards—particularly around AEM best practices, component architecture and front-end integration.
- Support and mentor associate and mid-level software engineers within the team, sharing AEM expertise and contributing to the wider growth of engineering capability.
Skills & Experience (Required)
- Demonstrable experience developing in AEM 6. x and Java, implementing Templates, Components, Dialogs, and Workflows, preferably using AEM as a Cloud service.
- Experience with AEM technologies: Apache Sling, OSGi, Java Servlets, HTL and Handlebars templating, Apache Felix, JCR, Jackrabbit, CRXDE, etc.
- Experience with performance monitoring and profiling tools to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Proficiency with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops, Maven, and Adobe Cloud Manager.
- Proficiency in writing and executing unit, system, performance, and integration tests.
- Proficiency in frontend technologies: HTML, CSS (Sass) and Java Script (React. js) with experience writing automated tests.
- Experience working with stakeholders including product owners, delivery managers and architects.
- Experience communicating and documenting technical design proposals.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience running software in production with monitoring and alerting in place (e. g., New Relic or similar).
Desirable
- Full-stack web development including responsive SPAs (React. js), Node. js backend and Type Script.
- Experience deploying web applications to cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure) and understanding of microservices.
- Experience with databases (preferably Postgre SQL) and cloud commerce systems (e. g., commercetools).
- Experience integrating with third-party services (payments providers like Adyen, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, and other Experience Platform capabilities).
- Understanding of SEO and site performance best practices.
- Experience developing cross-platform mobile applications (React Native with Expo).
