The successful candidate will have enthusiasm for continence and an interest in assisting patients with bladder & bowel issues and in helping them manage incontinence. You would be covering the Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland and surrounding localities, linking with local district nurse teams and other health professionals within the community.

Responsibilities will require you to work mainly under the supervision of the clinicians within the team, but at times also to work autonomously. The majority of the workload would be remote working, carrying out assessments via telephone consultation and visiting patients in their own homes if necessary. A full driver’s license and use of your own car are required.

In return for your enthusiasm and commitment, we offer an opportunity to develop clinical skills in continence and gain experience in a supportive team, with regular supervision and appraisals. You will be required to achieve a certain competency level, for which we will provide support and training. Opportunities for further training may be available through the Trusts Training Department.

Please note visa sponsorship for this role is unfortunately not available. Please ensure you hold valid right to work in the UK and will not require sponsorship if successful.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake care, following the instructions of the team leader or nominated deputy according to the needs of the patients as identified on the care plan.
  • You will be carrying out continence assessment for housebound patients via telephone consultation, in the patient's home, or a care home facility if appropriate.
  • Continence assessments will include conservative lifestyle advice such as fluid intake and bladder irritants, which may help with bladder & bowel symptoms, as well as providing the basis for a need for containment products and devices.
  • Consultations may involve the patient, family members and other care providers where consent has been obtained.
  • There would also be an opportunity to carry out bladder scans and sheath fittings for which full training will be provided.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.
