Freightliner operates across Europe offering Intermodal and Heavy Haul rail freight services, connecting European countries and the UK.
The UK group operates under several entities including Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.
Responsibilities
- To drive trains in accordance with Rules & Regulations, Competency Based Standards for Train Driving, and Freightliner’s Defensive Driving Policy.
- Attend and report for duty at the directed time and place, ensuring you are physically fit to carry out duties as a Train Driver.
- Responsible for unsupervised safe movement of traction.
- Absorb and retain knowledge of traction, routes, rules and regulations, and operating notices.
- Be able to adjust driving technique to suit prevailing conditions (e. g., weather, rail conditions).
- Be vigilant in observing all signals applicable to train movements and report any irregularities to the Signalman concerned.
- If delays occur, seek an explanation from the Signalman to ensure relevant people receive up-to-date information.
- Report to Network Rail by the most expeditious means (normally to the controlling signalman) any safety of the line incidents requiring action and protection.
- Carry out emergency procedures when required, including initial HABD examinations (including use of the Tempilstik).
- Sign, possess, and read all notices and publications affecting Traincrew Route Knowledge.
Maintain and update publications as required for traction and route knowledge and safe running of trains.
- Wear full uniform and safety clothing as supplied.
- Respond to service faults and failures, reporting as necessary to Freightliner Control and/or Help Line.
- Cover Standards Managers position as required (reference Standards Manager JD).
- Undertake other duties as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.
