Duration: This position is offered on an indefinite contract basis, linked to external research funding across a portfolio of clinical trials.
Current funding is confirmed until 31 December 2027.
We are optimistic funding will continue beyond this date and will review opportunities for extension as they arise; however, continuation after 31 December 2027 cannot be guaranteed.

Warwick Clinical Trials Unit (Warwick CTU) is a dynamic academic unit undertaking clinical trials addressing local, national and international importance.
Randomised controlled trials are developed in selective, focused areas aligned with the research strategy of Warwick Medical School.
Current research areas include musculoskeletal rehabilitation, orthopaedics, emergency care, critical care and cancer.
Role and Responsibilities
Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Software Engineer to lead the QA strategy within the Programming Team.
This principal QA position shapes and drives quality standards across a diverse portfolio of in-house developed clinical trial systems.
Responsibilities include
- Lead implementation of the QA strategy, designing and executing manual and automated testing across multiple products.
- Own and evolve QA infrastructure, supporting CI/CD practices and integrating automated testing throughout the development lifecycle.
- Work in an agile environment, contribute to sprint planning, ensure testing aligns with frequent, high-quality releases.
- Collaborate with developers, application support analysts, and trial teams to establish robust QA practices across the lifecycle, including coordinating and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Support and enhance data quality testing infrastructure, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and traceability of clinical trial data.
- Promote a culture of software quality, refine QA processes and standards in line with SOPs and regulatory requirements; champion testing best practices and modern security principles.
- Lead and shape software QA practices within a Programming Team delivering diverse research software.
Qualifications and Skills
Required
- Strong expertise across a broad range of testing practices, including automation; solid understanding of QA methodologies and Dev Ops principles.
- Ability to work confidently in agile teams; comfortable with modern tooling and frameworks; ability to influence best practice across the team.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
