Overview
Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor in Dartford.
Full-time permanent role with salary up to £70,000 per annum plus car allowance.
The role supports high‑standard commercial activities for housing properties, delivering commercial acumen, customer service, and ensuring safety, quality and cost control standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage the local Commercial Team and processes to facilitate timely and accurate client invoicing and cost control of the contract (including salaries, vehicles, equipment, tools, stock, petty cash) to maximise and protect profit, cash flow, and performance reporting in line with SOPs and client reporting protocols.
- Manage the valuation process through to final account.
- Collaborate with the Regional Finance Team to drive Work in Progress, invoicing and profitability of defined work streams.
- Ensure correct use of the Mears Contract Management system and Mears Subcontractor Portal by staff and contractors to support WIP, cost management, invoicing and KPI requirements.
- Provide a commercially competent service to service users and clients, maintaining high levels of satisfaction with performance delivery according to agreed procedures and targets.
- Provide training to promote commercial awareness and competency of commercial, administrative and operational staff.
- Support tendering of new work/projects, ensuring feasibility around viable margins and the commercial mobilisation of new work/projects.
- Ensure the customer experience is central to all activities, maintaining professional communication with stakeholders, high standards of health and safety, appropriate appearance and company assets in line with company policies.
- Role Criteria / Qualifications
- Experience working in social housing.
- Experience with NHF SOR rates, preferably version 8.
- Experience and a proven track record in a commercial environment.
- Experience handling multiple tasks in a high-volume, rapidly changing environment.
- Experience of partnership/alliance/collaborative working.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- People management with the ability to lead and mentor others.
