Job Summary
Senior Software Engineer – responsible for designing, building, and improving backend software within the Loans & Affordability Platform, collaborating with product and engineering teams in a cross‑disciplinary, agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to create, build, support and improve backend software.
- Ensure high quality engineering practices and adherence to the engineering transformation strategy.
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to deliver customer‑focused solutions.
- Co‑design and develop robust backend microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Experience producing high quality, well‑tested and robust code.
- Ability to design, build and test backend microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Strong experience in Java (17+) and Spring Framework.
- Strong experience in Microservice Development using Spring Boot.
- Good experience with containerised services (e. g. Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of cloud technologies, preferably GCP.
- Good awareness and understanding of database design.
- Ability to create tests and work with pipelines to prove strong and maintainable code.
- Understanding of the entire software development lifecycle and experience in end‑to‑end delivery.
- Experience with agile development methods and tooling (e. g. Kanban, Jira, Confluence) and working as part of an agile team.
- Bonus: Some experience of Java Script/Type Script, dev‑ops tooling like Harness, Quarkus framework.
