As a Technician in our Underwriting Team, you will be an integral part of our high-performing team based out of our Cheltenham office.
Your role will involve providing efficient, effective and expert administrative support to the Technical Team and Broking Divisions, in line with compliance, FCA and internal audit guidelines.
You will have previous experience and be able to carry out activity with moderate guidance as opposed to direct and close supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Process premiums, claims, treaty accounts and delegated authority transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review, validate and maintain insurance documentation, records and management information.
- Create, update and maintain electronic records and data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and procedures.
- Interpret documentation and extract key information to support operational processes and decision-making.
- Prepare standard market, client and internal documentation using information from multiple sources.
- Investigate exceptions, discrepancies and processing issues, escalating and resolving matters where appropriate.
- Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Understanding of the London Market insurance environment, including the relationship between brokers, underwriters and IBA functions.
- Knowledge of insurance principles and premium, claims, treaty and delegated authority processing.
- Experience working with Property and Marine Cargo classes, with exposure to Cyber and Financial Institutions considered advantageous.
- Familiarity with insurance systems, market platforms and electronic documentation management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve issues using established policies and procedures.
- Ability to interpret complex documentation and extract relevant information accurately.
- Experience working with insurance systems such as GXB and associated market platforms would be advantageous.
- Strong Excel and data management skills, with an understanding of bordereaux processing, net postings and insurance accounting processes desirable.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while exercising sound judgement and decision-making.
