Quality Engineering Intern – Cambourne

This is a fantastic opportunity to join ZEISS on a 12-month internship where you will gain exposure to different areas of the business, work with a variety of stakeholders, and support real continuous improvement projects that make a genuine impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with different teams across both businesses to understand current ways of working and key challenges
  • Map and document existing processes to create clear, structured process flows
  • Identify inefficiencies, gaps and improvement opportunities within current processes
  • Facilitate collaboration between teams to align on best practices and consistent approaches
  • Support the development and implementation of process improvements
  • Analyse quality and operational data to identify trends and support improvement initiatives
  • Develop dashboards and visualisations (e. g. Power BI) to track performance and key metrics
  • Support the definition and alignment of KPIs across departments and sites
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure improvements are practical, sustainable and adopted
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects across the business

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or currently studying towards a degree
  • Placement year students, postgraduates seeking industry experience and recent graduates are all encouraged to apply
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Interest in process improvement, quality and operational excellence
  • Curious mindset and a desire to understand how things work
  • Confident communicator who can engage with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Comfortable working across multiple teams and topics
  • Organised, proactive and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Basic understanding of data analysis and visualisation
  • Power BI knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Interest in engineering and manufacturing environments
  • Comfortable working with process maps and flowcharts
  • A team player who brings enthusiasm and positivity to every call
