We are looking for an experienced Non‑Destructive Testing Principal Engineer to support TWI’s NDT inspection services in the NDT Technology Group. The role includes in‑house and customer support, authoring and review of NDT documentation, development of inspection techniques and standards, business development, mentoring and delivery of advanced NDT projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author and review NDT and project documentation
  • Support inspection technique development and validation of inspection processes
  • Develop procedures, standards and associated technical documentation
  • Engage in business development and deliver state‑of‑the‑art advanced NDT projects
  • Propose, manage and deliver projects for customers, handling day‑to‑day enquiries
  • Demonstrate strong project management, scoping, and high‑standard technical reporting
  • Act as a mentor to less experienced technologists
  • Maintain safety, quality and technical excellence while meeting time, cost and delivery targets
  • Proactively develop a new business pipeline
  • Remain flexible to support project work in labs or on site and travel as required
  • Adhere to health and safety responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two CSWIP/PCN Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications in at least one major NDT method (UT/PAUT/ET advantageous)
  • Degree level qualification or significant demonstrable experience in on‑site NDT application
  • Extensive knowledge of NDT and heading towards chartered engineer status
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record in effective project management and technical reporting

Travel & Working Conditions

Short‑term travel within the UK and overseas may be required according to project and client demands.
