Bidwells is looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to champion a positive safety culture across our Investment & Property Management business.

Reporting to the Head of Facilities and working closely with our Executive Director of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, our successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and practical guidance to ensure health, safety and risk management are embedded throughout our operations.

This is an opportunity for someone to influence decision-making at every level, drive continuous improvement, and help protect the people who work, live, study and visit the properties we manage.

Alongside supporting our IPM teams, our successful hire will also contribute to Bidwells' wider Health, Safety & Wellbeing strategy, helping to share best practice and raise standards across the business.

Our Investment & Property Management team manages a diverse portfolio of commercial properties and development land for prestigious clients, including University Colleges and Institutional Investors.

By combining technical expertise with a forward-thinking approach, we help clients maximise the value of their property assets through strategic property management, facilities management, acquisitions, disposals and development.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and promote a proactive health, safety and wellbeing culture across a national property portfolio.
  • Develop and implement health and safety strategies that align with legislation, industry best practice and client expectations.
  • Deliver audits, inspections and assurance programmes, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide expert advice to Property and Facilities Management teams on key health and safety legislation, including CDM, the Building Safety Act, fire safety and the Health & Safety at Work Act.
  • Support contractor management and supply chain assurance, promoting safe and compliant working practices.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and embedding lessons learned.
  • Produce insightful reports for senior leaders and clients, using data to drive informed decisions and improve performance.
  • Coach and support colleagues through training, mentoring and the development of health and safety capability across the business.
  • Contribute to maintaining our ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System and support wider business initiatives to continually improve standards.

About you

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH National Diploma Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).

Experience

  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety management role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation relating to commercial property environments.
  • Understanding of facilities management operations and service delivery.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining health and safety management systems and processes.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Pragmatic, solutions-focused with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confident communicator, able to build relationships with colleagues, clients and senior leaders.
  • Professional, accountable and committed to continuous improvement and development.
  • Able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
