Position Summary:
The Team Leader of Core Synthetic Chemistry will lead the team responsible for the design, development, scale‑up, and manufacture of small‑molecule chemical tools that support life‑science research. This role utilizes hands‑on operational oversight ensuring that new product development (NPD) pipelines, production schedules, and quality standards are delivered effectively and safely. As a people leader, the position holder will cultivate a high‑performing, collaborative culture, driving team engagement, skills development, and professional growth. This role is expected to be partly lab‑based, allowing direct involvement with experiments and leadership by example.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Line manage the Core Synthetic Chemistry team, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing environment through coaching, development, and clear communication.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager to prioritize and deliver new products and restocking projects aligned with business goals.
- Function as the subject matter expert (SME) for RUO synthesis, offering technical advice and problem‑solving support to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Allocate approximately 50% of time to chargeable, project‑focused lab work, maintaining direct involvement in experimental activities and leading by example.
- Ensure team adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, documentation best practices, and company policies.
- Support team members through regular 1:1 meetings, performance management, and development plans.
- Foster a culture of higher performance, collaboration, creativity, communication and teamwork by exemplifying Bio-Techne's EPIC values through clear guidance and role‑modelling.
- Represent the Core Synthetic Chemistry team in cross‑functional discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- PhD in Organic Chemistry
- Ability to provide technical guidance, feedback, and performance support to team members
- Thorough grasp of principles and required standards of Health & Safety, Quality, and local SOPs.
- Strong working understanding of synthetic organic chemistry together with associated analytical techniques
- Ability to carry out complex chemical syntheses and solve technical challenges
- Strong analytical data interpretation skills
- Ability to make sound technical decisions and elevate risks or issues appropriately

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to create solutions and communicate outcomes effectively with different audiences, doing so with tact and diplomacy.
