Social Media Lead (Senior Associate)

About the role
We’re looking for a creative yet analytically‑minded individual to take on the role of Social Media Lead and help grow the Capital One brand through our social media channels in the UK.
The role requires experience managing social media within a financial services, fintech, or regulated environment and will shape how people view Capital One externally by developing and executing our UK social media strategy.
Responsibilities
- Own the overarching strategy for Capital One’s social media presence in the UK, defining the role and content plan for each channel while ensuring a cohesive narrative and tone of voice.
- Work with PR, paid media, and performance marketing teams to deliver integrated, multi‑channel owned and earned campaigns from briefing to sign‑off.
- Champion the content creator strategy, identify partners, and ensure compliant, on‑message content is produced.
- Collaborate with the performance marketing team to integrate social media with the broader marketing agenda, including GEO and AI discoverability.
- Work with international partner teams to maintain compliance with International Brand Governance Standards.
- Brief internal and external creative teams on insights such as competitor activity and best practice.
- Oversee production of campaign materials, including visual assets and copy, keeping communications on brand and relevant to the audience.
- Report on KPIs, campaign measurement, and brand metrics at a scheduled cadence.
- Build strong connections between Brand and wider business teams to drive a regular drumbeat of content.
- Own projects end‑to‑end, both long‑term and short‑term, identifying new opportunities to maximize impact.
- Report to the Head of Brand and PR.
Qualifications
- Creative and analytical mindset with the ability to craft data‑driven social media campaigns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present the value of social media to stakeholders.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with internal and external stakeholders, including experience working with agencies.
- Curiosity to stay attuned to emerging social media trends and opportunities.
- Experience managing a busy workload with strong organisational skills.
- Experience working with creative agencies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- Resilience and solution‑focused mindset to overcome setbacks.
- Tenacity to grow quickly and take on increasing responsibilities.
- Demonstrable experience developing and implementing an organic social media strategy, preferably in‑house.
- Preferred: experience in financial services or another regulated sector.
- Preferred: CIPR or CIM qualification.
- Where and How You’ll Work
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham or London office, with a hybrid approach.
You’ll spend three days a week in the office (Tuesday‑Thursday), with Monday and Friday dedicated to work‑from‑home.
