We are currently seeking an experienced EHS Lead to join our project team in Blyth, United Kingdom.

This role will be responsible for leading Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities on site, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and promoting a strong safety culture across the project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Environmental, Health & Safety activities across the project lifecycle
  • Develop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and systems in line with company and legal requirements
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure high standards of health & safety are maintained on site
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on EHS practices
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance with health & safety requirements and standards
  • Ensure all safety documentation, including method statements and risk assessments (RAMS), are reviewed and approved
  • Lead incident investigations, reporting, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to site personnel
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, audits, and safety performance metrics
  • Attend Site Meetings, Safety Meetings, and Project Reviews
  • Prepare and issue EHS reports to senior management and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability requirements
  • Proactively identify and resolve EHS issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or similar discipline
  • Minimum 7-10 years' experience in an EHS role within construction or engineering
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, standards, and best practices
  • Experience managing EHS on large-scale construction projects
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Relevant certifications (e. g., NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent) are essential
  • Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture across all levels of the organisation
  • Data centre, industrial, or mission-critical project experience is advantageous
