Position Overview
AST Space Mobile and our global partners are building the first and only space-based cellular broadband network accessible by standard smartphones.
Called Space Mobile, this ultra-powerful network is being designed to provide connectivity at 4G/5G speeds everywhere on the planet-on land, at sea, and in flight.
We are seeking an Automation Engineer to lead, build, and create an automation infrastructure for our software.
In this role, you will work closely with the engineering team to maintain high-quality products throughout their lifecycle while gaining hands‑on experience with cloud technologies and complex system testing.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for backend, UI, and API components to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality software.
- Work closely with development team members to identify test scenarios, perform manual testing, and automate them effectively.
- Troubleshoot and debug automation code to ensure reliable test execution and accurate results.
- Continuously improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and reliability through optimization of automation frameworks and processes.
- Mentor team members on automation best practices and provide technical support as needed.
- Drive and support a zero‑bug approach.
Qualifications
Education
- BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience may be considered, including IDF courses or equivalent bootcamp programs.
Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of automation testing experience.
- Proven experience in automating tests for backend, UI, and API layers using programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python, and frameworks such as Cucumber or other BDD frameworks.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams in Agile environments, preferably within CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience mentoring team members and providing technical guidance on automation best practices.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience working with Linux.
