5G RAN Optimisation Engineer - Network Optimisation - RAN technologies.
Marshall Wolfe are hiring on behalf of our client, a leading telecoms organisation.
They seek an experienced 5G RAN Optimisation Specialist to join a high-performing Network Performance & Optimisation team supporting a critical Public Safety Network programme.
This is a specialist role focused on 5G/5G+ performance optimisation, root cause analysis, and end-to-end network investigations across complex mobile network environments.
You will work closely with internal SMEs, vendors, and stakeholders to improve network performance, customer experience, and service reliability.
This is a 12-month contract, which can be based in London or Bristol.
Responsibilities
- Analyse UE logs, drive test data, Wireshark traces, OSS trends and protocol logs to identify performance issues.
- Perform 4G/5G/5G+ parameter and feature optimisation activities across Nokia and Ericsson networks.
- Conduct end-to-end investigations covering 5G SA, NSA, Vo NR and network interworking scenarios.
- Lead root cause analysis of network degradations and define optimisation plans to improve KPIs.
- Validate network designs and assess performance impacts of new features and configurations.
- Produce performance recommendations and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with technical teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver performance improvements.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in mobile network performance and optimisation within large-scale telecommunications environments.
- Expert knowledge of 5G/5G+ investigations, RAN optimisation and end-to-end network troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of 4G LTE, 5G SA/NSA, Vo NR, Network Slicing and SIP signalling.
- Advanced experience with Wireshark, TEMS, Accuver, Actix, UE log analysis and protocol tracing.
- Proven expertise analysing radio network KPIs, parameters, timers and performance metrics.
- Experience working with Nokia and/or Ericsson RAN technologies.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear business outcomes.
Desirable
- Experience supporting Public Safety Network services.
- Knowledge of SRTP/DTLS troubleshooting and optimisation.
- Understanding of 3GPP and ETSI standards.
- Experience working with third-party suppliers and vendors.
- Knowledge of project delivery and telecommunications best practices.
