Finance Assistant at PVF Scaffolding LTD

Overview

The Finance Assistant is a key member of the Finance Department, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

The role is responsible for providing administrative and bookkeeping support across accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring every financial transaction is processed accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will support effective cash flow management, maintain accurate financial records, monitor payments and outstanding debts and contribute to the efficient day to day operation of the finance function.

A high level of accuracy, organisation and confidentiality is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier and client invoices accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Reconcile supplier statements, account balances, and customer payments.
  • Manage weekly supplier payment runs and allocate incoming customer receipts.
  • Resolve invoice and payment queries with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
  • Support credit control activities, including chasing outstanding payments and arranging payment plans where required.
  • Conduct credit checks for new and existing customers to assess financial risk.
  • Onboard and verify new suppliers, ensuring all records are accurate and compliant.
  • Build positive relationships with suppliers and customers, including negotiating payment terms where appropriate.

In order to be successful in the Finance Assistant role you will need to have strong skills in

  • Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office, or similar applications
  • Experience using an accounting software is desirable but not essential

Qualifications

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting (or working towards/willing to complete)
