Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to lead our European Commercial Strategy practice from our London office. This position, as a Partner, Practice Lead, is crucial to our continued success and growth within the biopharmaceutical sector and our continued growth with European-based global biopharmaceutical organizations. Our Commercial Strategy practice offers a range of solutions to our clients including franchise and asset strategy for development and inline products, go-to-market strategy, and portfolio, licensing and development strategy at a corporate/business unit/therapeutic area level. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leadership in consulting, with extensive experience in managing a consulting practice or a service division and a deep understanding of the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy:
    • Drive the strategic direction and growth of the Commercial Strategy practice area within Europe, aligning with Putnam Associates\’ overall business objectives.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of consultants in Europe, principally within our London office, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
    • Participate as a leading voice in our global Commercial Strategy practice, formulating and implementing innovative strategies to enhance global and EU practice capabilities and deliver superior client outcomes.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their needs and providing strategic, high-impact solutions.
    • Lead teams in developing unique, integrative insights and translate those insights into strategic guidance for clients.
    • Oversee end-to-end delivery of consulting projects, ensuring quality and consistency and strong final recommendations.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging industry knowledge and Putnam’s network to drive growth.
    • Develop core business development activities, including capability presentations, project proposals, and client negotiations.
    • Enhance Putnam’s visibility as a leading life science consulting firm through thought leadership and related activities.
  • Industry Expertise:
    • Utilize extensive biopharmaceutical industry experience to provide deep client insights and stay abreast of industry trends, challenges, and regulatory changes.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Oversee practice operations, including budgeting, resource allocation, and project management.
    • Implement best practices and continuous improvement to enhance operational efficiency and position Putnam for success.
    • Provide in-person leadership in our London office with a hybrid model (minimum 2 days per week in-office).

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Consulting Practice Partner with a strong Pharmaceutical and Life Science background to drive business generation and revenue targets.
    • Demonstrated success in leading consulting teams, managing strategic projects, and growing capabilities.
    • Significant depth in Commercial Strategy (Portfolio/ Franchise/ Asset strategy) and industry thought leadership.
    • A minimum of 10 years in the life sciences consulting industry.
  • Skills:
    • Exceptional leadership, people development, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record of delivering strategic solutions to complex challenges.
    • Proficiency in business development, client management, and project delivery oversight.
