Role Overview
The UNIX Engineer will be responsible for managing and supporting enterprise UNIX environments, focusing on Oracle Solaris platforms and advanced virtualization technologies. This role involves system configuration, migration projects, and ensuring high availability through resilient cluster setups.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Oracle Solaris systems on T-series hardware (T5, T7, T8).
- Configure and manage LDOMs (Logical Domains) for virtualization.
- Perform system migrations and upgrades across UNIX environments.
- Design and implement resilience clusters for high availability and disaster recovery.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex UNIX issues.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Maintain compliance with security and operational standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands‐on experience with Oracle Solaris operating systems.
- Expertise in LDOM configuration and management.
- Familiarity with Oracle T-series hardware (T5, T7, T8).
- Proven experience in migration projects and UNIX system upgrades.
- Knowledge of cluster technologies for resilience and failover.
- Solid understanding of UNIX networking, storage, and security principles.
Security Clearance
Must hold or be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
Additional Requirements
Will require on-site work at customer location in Barrow-in-Furness as part of project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in Oracle Solaris or related UNIX technologies.
- Experience in large‐scale enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Shell, Python).
