Salary Range: £45,000.00 To £50,000.00 Annually
Reporting to the Quality Manager, this role has the responsibility for all issues related to Environment, Health and Safety across the UK North sites. The EHS Leader will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the EHS company policy and relevant legislative requirements, coordinating the day to day EHS activities and for raising the overall profile and improving safety performance throughout Pursuit Aerospace.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with the competencies identified within the EHS Management System manual.
- Maintain compliance with local, UK, EU and corporate environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Monitor and drive improvements in EHS performance, especially to reduce accident rates and lost time, accident investigations and health and safety risk assessments.
- Reduce and eliminate environmental impacts – including waste disposal reduction and resource efficiency.
- Lead and manage the ISO 14001/45001 certification process.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of environmental performance to include site energy and water use.
- Ensure fit for purpose processes and audit mechanisms are in place to support the business / operational unit, including company induction processes.
- Provide analysis, advice and support to resolve problems and enhance business / operational performance.
- Develop and maintain professional networks as a basis for a contribution to the development of best practice and fit for purpose solutions.
- Support and contribute to thought leadership and best practice within EHS in all business units to achieve improved performance.
- Develop and implement the EHS management system.
- Deliver EHS training using interactive methods and provide sound practical health and safety advice through general awareness training.
- Support the drive for continuous improvement and the facilitation of the training and development of all employees within all business units.
- Work alongside other locations to share best practices and advice accordingly.
Person Specification
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate to a variety of different audiences.
- Project management skills – ability to organise, schedule events, activities and resources.
- Problem solving – ability to use a range of methods to identify issues, weigh up options and draw conclusions using a systematic approach.
- Working knowledge of ISO Management systems ISO 14001 & 45001.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office packages.
- Minimum NEBOSH National General Certificate and preferable to have or working towards NEBOSH diploma.
- Minimum of AIEMA or working towards an environmental qualification.
- Proven track record or experience of working in this specialist field, preferably within manufacturing industry or consultancy.
- Clear Thinker.
- Team orientated with the ability to engage with employees.
- Chartered member of, or working towards, becoming a chartered member of IOSH.
