We are working with an award winning employer to find a Lab Technician (Hot Area) in the Witham area to join their team. As part of the role you will be working within the science and research industry. This is a physical role that will be based in the furnace area β full training will be provided. This role would suit someone looking for a change in direction of career, who is active and has a keen interest in working within a scientific environment.
Due to the shift pattern you must be a car driver or live within Witham and not reliant on public transport due to the shift patterns.
Duties:- Initial weighing of samples into cups
- Mixing samples with litharge using an extracted cupboard
- Accurate weighing of metals
- Ensuring the Furnace area is kept clean whilst maintaining safety standards
- Using hand held pump truck to move material
- Placing samples into crucibles and melting within a furnace
- Pouring small amounts of molten material into moulds
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills as it will be a team based role
- Good level of flexibility in both time and work
- Maths and any science subject GCSE grade C or higher (Essential)
- No previous furnace experience required as full training will be supplied
- 5% EE with 5% ER pension
- 24 days (rising to 25 in 2024) holidays plus public bank holidays
