We are working with an award winning employer to find a Lab Technician in the Witham area to join their team. As part of the role you will be working within the science and research industry. Full training will be provided; however a keen interest in science is a must! This role would suit someone looking for a change in direction of career, who is active and has a keen interest in working within a scientific environment.

Due to the shift pattern you must be a car driver or live within Witham and not reliant on public transport due to the shift patterns.

Duties:

  • Initial weighing of samples into cups
  • Mixing samples with litharge using an extracted cupboard
  • Accurate weighing of metals
  • Ensuring the lab is kept clean whilst maintaining safety standards
  • Using hand held pump truck to move material
  • Placing samples into crucibles and melting within a furnace
  • Pouring small amounts of molten material into moulds

Experience:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good communication skills as it will be a team based role
  • Good level of flexibility in both time and work
  • Maths and any science subject GCSE grade C or higher (Essential)
  • No previous furnace experience required as full training will be supplied
