My client, based in Braintree, is seeking an Estimator to join their team. A successful candidate should have an excellent attention to detail when preparing accurate estimates and excellent time management skills in order to manage multiple tender enquiries at once. Candidates should also display strong organisation and communication skills too.

Job Responsibilities include:

  • Issuing estimates to management for costing
  • Liaising with the buying department for up to date material prices and lead-times
  • Reviewing tenders, construction and design documents to issue re-quotes as required
  • Managing and maintaining weekly personal quote log
  • Recommending and incorporating VE (value engineered) options for more competitive pricing
  • Attending pre-project and tender meetings as required
  • Keeping current on certification and technical changes
  • Assisting with the training of other members of staff as required
  • Reviewing workboard to select projects and manage workload and priorities independently
  • Identifying and evaluating all the technical issues that are related to projects, querying with technical department and advising accordingly
  • Documenting tender enquiries on workboard (if required)
  • Actively participating in relations to enhance company image and to develop and maintain effective relationships
  • Responding to project specific technical enquiries as required
  • Producing handover documentation once in receipt of purchase order
  • Liaising with project management and other internal teams on project details as requested
  • Assisting in temporarily supervising the team and issuing necessary report if instructed, in the absence of the Senior Estimator/Estimating Manager
  • Undertaking required training for new in-house computerised company systems
