An excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in finance. This is a development-focused role within the Burnley and Barrowford Finance team, supporting day-to-day transactional activities across purchase ledger, sales ledger, and cash. The role will provide exposure to a manufacturing environment, including labour reporting and cost analysis, with opportunities for progression.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Process, check and post purchase ledger invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist with supplier payment runs and respond to supplier queries
- Maintain supplier accounts, including statement reconciliations
- Post and allocate cash receipts and supplier payments
- Support the maintenance of daily and weekly cashbook records
- Raise and issue customer invoices and assist with sales reporting
- Process employee expenses and company credit card transactions in line with company policy
- Support the month-end close process, including:
- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with the preparation of accruals and prepayments
- Performing general ledger checks and housekeeping
- Assist with payroll inputs, including timesheet processing and validation
- Support the preparation of labour reporting to provide visibility of operational performance
- Assist in maintaining the fixed asset register, including additions and updates
- Provide support with cost tracking and basic variance analysis, helping to identify differences between actual and expected costs
- Provide general administrative and clerical support to the Finance team as required
Person Specification
- Part-qualified, recent graduate, or currently studying towards a recognised accounting qualification, with a desire to build a career in finance
- Some prior experience in an office or finance environment is beneficial, but not essential
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas and basic data analysis
- Good systems aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn new finance and ERP systems
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Well organised, with the ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive, team-oriented approach
- Basic understanding of accounting principles, with a natural affinity for working with numbers
- Proactive and willing to learn, with an interest in developing within a manufacturing environment
