The Stores Team Leader is responsible for supervising store operations, managing inventory, leading store staff, and ensuring efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. The role ensures stock accuracy, safety compliance, and high standards of organisation with the working area.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Participate in a positive and proactive EHS culture across the site.
- Effectively lead the stores team to ensure cross training and availability of personnel across key areas.
- Work alongside the Operational Leaders and SIOP team to ensure that jobs are launched on time to the shop floor.
- Ensure that all projects are kitted with the right material at the right time in preparation for the launch on to the shop floor.
- Move components through the production areas at the required time to achieve 100% on time delivery with customers.
- Attend the daily production shop floor meetings to gain a thorough knowledge of the delivery schedules and customer commitment dates.
- Record Goods inwards/outwards using the Syteline 10 system.
- Take delivery of goods delivered into the Stores area and ensure goods are checked off in an accurate and timely manner, checking for damages and quantity.
- Ensure that the stores team place materials/goods in an organised location in stores following any deliveries.
- Ensure materials are out and ready for collection/delivery as per the internal schedule.
- Assist with stock checks when required.
- Keep stores and yard area clean and tidy and adhere to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Identify, log and report any scrap that is received into the Stores area (both internally and externally).
- Ensure safe loading and unloading of materials onto and from vehicles, assisting colleagues in this task where necessary.
- Assume overall responsibility for the import and export paperwork ensuring full compliance to legislation.
- Assume responsibility (and in liaison with customers, where necessary) for booking transport to ensure timely delivery of components.
- Manage any skips on site, ensuring that materials are correctly disposed of in the appropriate skips to maximise recycling possibilities.
- Develop, maintain and report regular KPI’s that drive the strategy of the Stores area.
- Participate in Kaizen initiatives.
Person Specification
- Previous experience of working within a stores environment.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of successfully leading and developing teams.
- A knowledge of good practice relating to Health and Safety Regulations.
- Knowledge of waste recycling.
- Computer literate and knowledge of stock systems.
- Ability to communicate at all levels within the business.
- Methodical and organised with the ability to work on own initiative.
