About the Role
We are seeking passionate and committed Youth Mentors to support young people facing a range of social, emotional, behavioural and educational challenges. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people through consistent, positive and trauma‑informed mentoring relationships. You will work on a one‑to‑one basis, helping young people to build confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, engagement with education, and aspirations for the future.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality mentoring sessions tailored to individual needs.
- Build positive, professional relationships with young people and their families.
- Support young people to identify goals and overcome barriers.
- Work collaboratively with schools, local authorities and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate session records and reports.
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
- Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and personal development.
- Encourage engagement in education, training and employment opportunities.
Qualifications
- Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice, restorative approaches or youth work methodologies.
- Experience working with young people at risk of exclusion, exploitation, offending, poor attendance or disengagement from education.
- Qualifications in youth work, mentoring, teaching, coaching, social care or related fields.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
