Are you a practical, hands-on installer with experience working with cabling, power tools and electrical or technical systems?
CPS Group is looking for an AV Installation Technician to join its team, installing professional audio, lighting and AV systems across commercial sites and venues throughout the South Coast.
This is primarily an installation and site-based role not a sound engineering or music-production position.
You will regularly use hand and power tools, install cabling and containment, mount equipment and work from ladders and at height.
You don't necessarily need to come from an AV background.
We would also be interested in hearing from people with experience in electrical installation, data cabling, structured cabling, CCTV/security systems, fire and alarm installation, telecoms or similar technical trades who would like to develop their AV knowledge.
What You'll Be Doing
Working from our Christchurch premises and on customer sites, you'll be responsible for the practical installation, maintenance and servicing of professional AV and technical systems.
Your work will include
- Installing audio, AV, lighting and associated technical equipment
- Running, dressing and terminating cables, & Cable containment systems
- Mounting screens, speakers and other equipment
- Using hand and power tools safely and confidently
- Soldering and terminating connections
- Maintaining and servicing installed equipment
- Carrying out PAT testing and routine maintenance
- Working from ladders and at height
- Fault-finding and resolving technical issues on site
- Working on commercial premises, construction sites and customer locations
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
What We're Looking For
This role would suit someone who enjoys practical work and takes pride in completing installations to a high standard.
You'll need
- Previous practical installation experience- ideally within a commercial or site environment
- Experience installing cabling and/or containment systems
- Confidence using hand and power tools
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Strong Fault Finding and problem-solving skills
- Soldering ability or similar termination experience
- Experience mounting and installing equipment
- To be comfortable working from ladders and at height
- The ability to work independently or within a team
- A full UK driving licence & Van Driving experience
- A professional and reliable approach when working at customer sites
- Your Background
Previous AV experience would be useful, but it isn't necessarily essential if you already have strong practical installation skills.

- ECS/CSCS card would be helpful but can be arranged for the suitable candidate
Training can be provided to develop your knowledge of our specific AV, audio and lighting systems.
