Not every engineering role gives you the chance to work behind the scenes of live events, cutting-edge AV systems, and large-scale installations. This one does.

At CPS Group, we deliver professional Sound, Lighting, AV, Staging, and Technical Production solutions across the South Coast. From permanent venue installations to event production support, our projects are varied, fast-paced, and technically rewarding. We’re now looking for an Installation & Technical Systems Engineer to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with technology, and seeing projects come to life from installation through to completion.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be working both from our Christchurch premises and on customer sites, installing, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting a wide range of technical systems and equipment. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Installing AV, audio, lighting, and technical systems
  • Running and terminating cabling and containment systems
  • Fault-finding and resolving technical issues on-site
  • Maintaining and servicing installed equipment
  • Carrying out PAT testing and routine maintenance
  • Reading project drawings and installation schedules
  • Delivering work to high professional and safety standards

No two days are the same — one day you could be installing systems in a venue, the next resolving technical faults or supporting ongoing projects.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone practical, motivated, and technically minded who takes pride in producing high-quality work. You’ll ideally have:

  • Electrical knowledge or installation experience
  • Experience mounting hardware and running cabling systems
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Good soldering skills
  • The ability to work independently and within a team
  • A professional and customer-focused attitude
  • Good IT and literacy skills
  • A full UK driving licence

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • Experience within the AV, sound, lighting, or events industry
  • Electronics or electrical qualifications
  • ECS/CSCS card
  • Knowledge of technical system topologies
  • DIY or van driving experience

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary from £30,000 depending on experience
  • Full-time permanent position
  • Company pension
  • On-site parking
  • Ongoing in-house and external technical training
  • Opportunities to work on exciting and varied projects across the South Coast

Working Hours & Flexibility

This role is primarily site-based, so some flexibility is required. Occasional evening work, travel, and overnight stays may be necessary depending on project requirements. Weekend work is rare but may occasionally be required.

If you enjoy technical work, problem-solving, and being part of a skilled team delivering high-quality installations and event solutions, we’d love to hear from you.
