My name is Lauren. I am 27 years old and live with my mum, siblings and our family dogs in
the CM19 area. I have quadriplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy and a severe visual impairment.
I have no independent movement and therefore need support with all aspects of daily life.
I am non-verbal and use communication aids to express my wishes, make choices and
interact with others. I need support and encouragement to use these aids effectively. I have
a fun personality, enjoy socialising and love getting out and about, meeting people and
taking part in activities in my local community. I am looking for Personal Assistants who will
see beyond my disability and support me to live life to the fullest.
Employment Status
This is an employed Personal Assistant position funded through a Personal Health Budget (PHB). The successful applicant will be employed directly for this role. Self-employment is not available under the PHB arrangement.
Location
The role is based in my home in the CM19 area.
Hours and Rate of Pay
Night shifts available.
Typically 3 nights per week, according to the rota.
Pay Rates:
Monday to Friday, 10pm to 8am: £17.50 per hour
Weekends, 10pm to 8am: £18.50 per hour
Bank holidays: time and a half
Please note: Day and night shift positions are being recruited separately. Applicants may apply for either role and will not be expected to work both day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Providing all aspects of personal care and support with daily living activities.
Supporting me to use my communication aids and encouraging me to express my wishes, choices and preferences.
Assisting with moving and handling in line with training and guidance provided.
Supporting me at home and in the community, including attending appointments, social activities and outings.
Providing support with meal preparation, eating and drinking where required.
Monitoring my wellbeing and responding appropriately to health-related needs, including following agreed procedures relating to epilepsy.
Maintaining a safe, comfortable and positive environment while promoting my independence, dignity and choice.
Working collaboratively with my family and other professionals involved in my support.
