An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive, high-performing small animal veterinary team in South Wales, working across two well-established practices. This role is ideal for a qualified MRCVS Vet who enjoys a balance of surgery and medicine, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is passionate about delivering excellent clinical care and client service.

The Veterinary Surgeon will work alongside a Branch Partner, experienced vets committed to high clinical standards, and skilled veterinary nurses who actively undertake Schedule 3 procedures. The role is split across two practices:

  • RCVS-accredited first opinion practice: A busy small animal clinic managing a high volume of emergency and critical care (ECC) cases, housed in a spacious, modern building with three consulting rooms, dedicated operating theatre, imaging room, and close collaboration with Visiting Veterinary Specialists (VVS) for ultrasound support.
  • Community-focused small animal practice (Cynon Valley): A friendly, welcoming practice located in the heart of the Cynon Valley, serving a loyal client base. The area offers excellent local amenities, scenic walks, and easy access to the wider South Wales region.

Working Pattern: This is a part-time veterinary role with a consistent rota: Monday & Tuesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm (Community Practice), Friday: 8:30am – 6:30pm (First Opinion Practice), 1 in 4 Saturdays (rota).

Salary & Benefits: The successful Veterinary Surgeon will receive a competitive salary of £50,000–£55,000 DOE (pro rata), along with an extensive benefits package focused on wellbeing, development, and work-life balance.

About the Candidate: The ideal candidate will be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS), passionate about clinical excellence and patient care, a collaborative team player who values support and shared learning, and committed to building strong client relationships and making a positive impact within the practice.

Key Responsibilities: In this role, the Veterinary Surgeon will typically deliver high-quality clinical care in consults and surgery, ensure compliance with regulatory, practice, and operational standards, develop and communicate tailored treatment plans with clients, work collaboratively within a supportive, multidisciplinary team, and share knowledge and contribute to the development of colleagues.
