We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join the day team at this purpose-built, family-run independent practice, a real local gem offering top-tier care to both pets and exotic animals in a thriving market town known for its charm, community feel, and easy access to the coast and Norwich.

Since opening over a decade ago as a purpose-built practice, they have grown to a 6-vet (day) and 4-vet (night) team with an amazing support team including 9 RVN’s, SVN's, ANA’s and Receptionists. Their experienced team of RVNs also all have areas of expertise, such as behaviour and exotics, and undertake a wealth of clinics for the clients. They are a genuinely happy team who enjoy working together to offer the best service to their lovely, loyal clients, and they are accredited as Gold Feline Friendly, Gold Rabbit Friendly and Dog-Friendly too!

They have a varied and interesting medical and surgical caseload with a high retention of cases in-house. They are ideally looking for a vet with some experience, however, they would be happy to hear from less experienced vets too as the team can provide support when needed. Full support for certificates is available and if you already have a certificate and would like to expand their referral service, then they are more than open to that too! A consultation-only role could be accommodated if desired. There is a healthy exotics caseload but please don’t be put off if you lack direct experience with exotic animals, as there is always support available and they’re happy to share their knowledge and provide relevant training. All you need is the desire to learn!

Inside the practice, you'll find facilities that rival referral centres, including an on-site CT scanner, digital X-ray, ultrasound, laser therapy, cryotherapy, and platelet regeneration therapy. With separate cat, dog, and exotic wards and a variety of cases, your days will be interesting, varied, and rewarding. The team boasts a wide range of post-grad certificates, and you'll be encouraged to develop your own clinical interests with generous CPD support.

The full-time vets work a 4-day week which is designed to include 4-day weekends, allowing for a genuinely good work-life balance. The shifts are 8.30am to 7pm, with daily 30-minute rounds scheduled for 8.30am and 6.30pm to allow them to make plans for the day and hand over cases to the on-site night team. During the week, the night team also offers evening consultations between 7pm to 9.30pm, which allows the day vets to always leave on time. The current Saturday rota is 1 in 5 from 9am to 1pm.

This is more than just a job — it's a chance to join a team that puts patient care and staff wellbeing first. If you’re looking for autonomy, balance, and the chance to work in a practice that’s proud to remain truly independent, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s have a chat and explore whether this could be the perfect next step in your career!

The Rota
