An established and progressive independent veterinary group in Huddersfield is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its thriving multi‑centre practice. As the only independent veterinary group in Huddersfield, the practice offers a unique opportunity to work within a supportive, forward‑thinking environment that prioritises clinical excellence and community values.
The group operates across six surgeries with a team of 44 veterinary surgeons, including certificate holders in diagnostic imaging, surgery, ophthalmology, and ECC. This creates an outstanding setting for collaboration, mentoring, and continued professional development.
Hospital & Facilities
The group’s state‑of‑the‑art veterinary hospital delivers high‑quality first opinion care supported by referral‑level equipment. Designed with patient, client, and team wellbeing in mind, facilities include:
- Separate cat, dog, and exotic wards
- Fully equipped ICU
- Five operating theatres
- Dedicated dental suite with two dental tables and dental X‑ray
- Advanced imaging suite including CT scanner, digital X‑ray, and ultrasound with linear and cardiac probes
- Arthroscopy, endoscopy, and rhinoscopy equipment
- Monthly visiting MRI
- Full surgical capabilities including laparoscopic spays, fracture repairs, TPLO, MMP, and spinal surgery
Role
The practice welcomes Veterinary Surgeons with a few years’ experience, particularly those wishing to develop a focus in surgery, internal medicine, or ultrasonography. Flexible working options are available, whether applicants prefer:
- A GP role within a branch practice
- A mixed GP and hospital role
Roles are tailored to individual interests and long‑term career goals.
Rota & Working Pattern
- 4‑day working week (8:15am – 6:15pm)
- One late shift every 2–3 weeks (until 8:15pm)
- 1:6 Saturdays (8:15am – 3:00pm)
- Optional out‑of‑hours work available
Salary & Benefits
- Salary up to £70,000 DOE
- Additional OOH bonus if out‑of‑hours work is undertaken
- 21.5 days annual leave + bank holidays (based on a 4‑day week)
- £3,000 CPD budget over two years
- Certificates fully supported and funded
- RCVS, BVA, and BSAVA fees paid
